Compass Box | Glasgow Blend
Compass Box is an independent bottler and blender that was launched in 2000 by John Glaser. After working for a large distiller for several years, John sought to approach Scotch whisky differently, with the aim of bringing it to a wider audience. Based on the model of a Scotch whisky blending house, Compass Box takes advantage of the wide spectrum of flavor and style within the Scotch whisky category, helping to ensure that their blends continue to evolve and surprise today’s spirits enthusiasts.
Tasting Notes
In his 1930 book “Whisky”, Aeneas MacDonald states that Glaswegians historically preferred fuller-bodied and more flavor-packed whiskies than people in other parts of the world. ‘Great King Street – Glasgow Blend’ leans into this idea with rich, peat-smoked distillate underpinned by sherry cask-aged whiskies. The resulting blend is full and round with pronounced sherry character.
