Basilica C No.1 was in essence born in the Middle East. When designing this cigar the target as to make a blend that could deliver “tart” or “citrus” notes that would compliment the tastes of the Middle East cuisine – pairing with oriental teas and the spices used in the Saudi food. Five blends were provided for a tasting in Beirut and the winning blend selected. The “tartness” was attained by the usage of a double binder leaf and their interaction with the Brazilian Cubra binder. The balance was insured with both the sweetness and richness provided by the filler. The Basilica vitola design allows the filler to explode out of the foot of the cigar so as to gently lead the smoker into the tartness of the binder and wrapper. With the blend consisting of 7 leaves Basilica C No.1 has received top ratings as a complex but well-balanced cigar. Mild+ yes, but full-bodied.
