Carakale | 10% Belgian Tripel
In keeping with traditional Belgian methods, Carakale step-mashed the grist and included a touch of oatmeal for an extra silky mouthfeel. Towards the end of fermentation, they also added in-house made invert sugar to dry the beer out. For earthy and spicy flavors/aromas we finished with EKG and Czech Saaz hops.
In keeping with Trappist tradition, this Tripel is a medium-bodied, golden-hued ale with fruity accents, a dry finish, and a light hop bitterness. A slight green apple and banana character from the yeast interplays with mild but distinct earthy, floral and spicy flavors and aromas.
